At Northern Fitness, we respect and support the tax exemption rights of Indigenous customers as outlined under the Indian Act. If you hold a valid Certificate of Indian Status (Status Card) and meet the criteria below, we’re happy to help process your sales tax exemption request.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for a tax exemption on your order:
You are eligible under the Indian Act
The product(s) must be delivered to a reserve
The billing and shipping name must match your Certificate of Indian Status
All federal and provincial exemption rules must be met
Your claim must be submitted within 30 days of the shipment date
Note: Submitting a claim does not guarantee a tax refund. All requests are subject to review and verification.

Important Reminders
Online/Phone Orders: Must be shipped directly to a reserve address with matching status card details
In-Store Purchases: Only exempt if made on-reserve in provinces that require it (e.g., BC, MB)
Proof of Delivery & Status is often required for processing
How to Apply
Submit the following documents for each claim:
Completed and signed Sales Tax Exemption Form (First Nations)
A copy of:
Your Certificate of Indian Status (both sides, for personal use), or
A Status Indian Band Certification (both sides, for band use)
